This phone is designed to work on select GSM & 5G (Sub-6) networks. 5G is a cellular network data protocol capable of extremely fast data speeds that rival, or surpass, that of wired broadband Internet providers. 5G speeds can vary considerably based on location, but on average, should have no problem streaming 4K video. As 5G upgrades over time, mobile AR and VR applications could become possible. The phone is backwards compatible with 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G data for locations that do not support 5G.

North American Variant / US Compatible 5G

Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS)

Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) allows you to lower your mobile costs when traveling while staying connected. Once your SIM cards are installed, you will be able to receive phone calls and text messages from either without needing to manually choose which one is active. When you want to make a call or send an SMS message, you can select the correct SIM card. When one SIM card is being used for a phone call, the other will not be active until you hang up. Operator charges may apply.

Real-Time Tracking

Combining continuous autofocus, AI, and the 3D iToF sensor to measure distance, you can track and shoot fast-moving subjects while taking clear images and video. Simply tap the screen to specify your subject.

Burst Shooting

Capture multiple in-focus and properly exposed images, even of fast-moving subjects, with Continuous AF/AE calculation at up to 60 fps and burst shooting at 20 fps.

Low-Light Images

Using the BIONZ X mobile engine and large 1/1.7" Exmor RS sensor, the Xperia 1 III can pull in more light and reduce noise for sharper images in low-light, even while burst shooting.

Sony Alpha-Inspired Interface

Inspired by their Sony Alpha cameras, Sony equipped the Xperia 1 III with a similar interface that's capable of a variety of automatic settings and manual controls, such as RAW shooting, Manual mode, and Basic mode. With Manual mode, you can adjust the ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and more. In Basic mode, you get a touch shutter button and the ability to alter portrait orientation, Bokeh effect, panorama, and more.

Sony Alpha Camera Compatible

If you own a Sony Alpha camera, you can utilize the Xperia 1 III as a secondary display or as a remote to adjust camera settings, such as fine-tuning white balance and calibrating color temperature to D50 or D55, and take photos wirelessly using the Imaging Edge Mobile app
