What database software to use for small business? Hello. I can't find why this is so difficult to find. I want a databse software that I can store, edit, and retrieve data from. Something like this that I can store client info or products in card view. The whole web is running on databases so I thought it would be no issue. I was told Seatable and Airtable work like a DB but all I see is a pretty excel sheet. I am not sure but looked at Odoo and didn't find a DB app in it. I of course have no know how to build my own DB using something like MySQL or MondoDB. The only 2 I found are Microsoft Access (which feels very raw) and Filemaker. Filemaker is a little bit too expensive for me as it will cost $500 yearly for 2 users and my use case hardly justifies that price. What is every other business is using? I feel like I am looking in the wrong place

There are several options for small businesses when it comes to database software. Here are a few popular choices:

  1. Microsoft Access: While you mentioned that it feels raw, Microsoft Access is a widely used database software for small businesses. It offers a user-friendly interface and allows you to store, edit, and retrieve data easily. It also provides features like form creation, report generation, and data analysis. However, it is limited to Windows operating systems and has a maximum database size of 2GB.

  2. FileMaker: Although you mentioned it is expensive for your use case, FileMaker is known for its ease of use and flexibility. It allows you to create custom database solutions without any programming knowledge. It offers features like drag-and-drop interface design, script automation, and integration with other applications. FileMaker is available for both Windows and Mac users.

  3. Zoho Creator: Zoho Creator is a cloud-based platform that enables you to build custom database applications without coding. It offers a range of pre-built templates and allows you to create your own applications from scratch. Zoho Creator supports features like data entry forms, workflows, reports, and integrations with other Zoho applications. It also provides mobile apps for easy access on the go.

  4. Quick Base: Quick Base is a cloud-based platform that allows you to create custom database applications for your business. It offers a visual interface for designing databases and provides features like form creation, workflow automation, reporting, and integrations. Quick Base also provides mobile apps for accessing your data from anywhere.

  5. MySQL: If you are open to a more technical solution, MySQL is a popular open-source relational database management system. It requires some knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) for database design and querying. MySQL can be used with various programming languages and offers good scalability and performance.

  6. PostgreSQL: Similar to MySQL, PostgreSQL is another open-source relational database management system. It is known for its reliability, stability, and adherence to SQL standards. PostgreSQL offers advanced features like support for JSON data, spatial data, and full-text search. It is also highly extensible through the use of extensions.

These are just a few examples of database software options for small businesses. It's important to evaluate your specific requirements, budget, and technical expertise before making a decision. Additionally, you can explore cloud-based solutions, as they often offer scalability, accessibility, and integration capabilities that can benefit small businesses.
