The story introduces the legendary martial artist Ip Man, a devoted Wing Chun teacher living in Hong Kong in 1959 with his family. One day, a young man known as the Dragon arrives at Ip Man's dojo seeking lessons, recalling a promise made to him by Ip Man in his childhood. Impressed by the Dragon's eagerness, Ip Man tests his speed through a series of impressive martial arts maneuvers, ultimately signaling for him to leave after the lesson.
