Setting up Linksys extenders takes only a few minutes using the WPS button. This isn’t the only way, however; there is also the Linksys re6500 setup for the web portal and the same for the WiFi app. The WPS method is very simple, requiring a few taps to WPS buttons: One will use WPS from the extender, and the second taps the existing router, given that it’s equipped with a WPS button. The other two methods require a bit more elbow grease, with one going to the setup portal over a browser or receiving the Linksys app on their mobile. So, pick your favorite method and get going.

But, when you go to perform the exercise, ensure that the distance from the extender to your router will be as short as possible. Simply put, both devices must be within range together. Your Wi-Fi enabled devices must connect very well either wirelessly or by wiring to the network. For this, mind to tick select your own network among the wireless networks shown on your device. Whereas, for a wired connection, try to use an entirely new ethernet wire that is provided in the extender packaged box. In the end, the setup process will culminate via following the on-screen directions of your networked device.
